Highlight galleries are curated to show the best of the best. A full gallery shows you consistency — how they photograph across 8 hours, in different light conditions, with different people. Ask to see 2–3 complete galleries before booking.

2. "What happens if you get sick or have an emergency on our wedding day?"

This is non-negotiable. Every professional photographer should have a plan — a network of trusted backup photographers who can step in. If they don't have an answer, walk away.

3. "Who exactly will be photographing our wedding?"

Some studios send associate photographers who are not the lead photographer whose work you fell in love with. Confirm who will be there — and ask to see specifically their work.

4. "How long until we receive our photos, and in what format?"

Timelines vary widely — from 6 weeks to 6 months. Understand what you're getting: digital files, print rights, resolution, and how they're delivered.

5. "Do you shoot with a second photographer?"

Most contracts grant you personal use rights — printing, sharing — but not commercial rights. Understand exactly what you can and cannot do with your images.

Family formals (with grandparents, siblings, extended family) are often the most time-consuming part of portrait time. Ask how they handle it and how you can make it faster.

10. "What do you need from us to give us the best possible gallery?"

This one is often the most revealing. A photographer who answers thoughtfully — talking about timelines, shot lists, lighting, communication — is one who is invested in your outcome, not just their fee.
