This is our absolute favorite season for wedding photography in Houston. Temperatures drop to a bearable 65–75°F, the humidity clears, and the light becomes this extraordinary warm amber that makes every photo feel like it belongs in a magazine. The greenery is lush without the suffocating summer heat, and golden hour lasts beautifully.

The catch: Everyone knows this. Fall weekends book up 12–18 months in advance. If fall is your dream, start planning now.

Spring (March – May) — Beautiful But Unpredictable

Houston spring is gorgeous — blooming flowers, rich greens, warm (not hot) temperatures. March and April are particularly stunning. But Houston spring also means storm season. A clear April sky can turn to thunderstorms in an hour. If you're planning a spring wedding, have an indoor backup plan and a photographer who stays calm under pressure.

Winter (December – February) — Underrated and Stunning

Houston winters are mild (50–65°F) and offer some surprising gifts for photographers: soft, cool-toned light, bare tree branches that create dramatic silhouettes, and the city's event venues at their most beautifully lit and decorated. December weddings have an unmatched romantic quality. And you'll likely have more venue availability and slightly lower pricing.

Summer (June – September) — Possible, With Strategy

Houston summer is not for the faint of heart. Temperatures regularly hit 95°F+ with high humidity. For photographers, this means almost all outdoor portraits must happen at golden hour (7:30–8pm), limiting your daytime portrait options. Guests are hot. Makeup melts. That said — summer weddings at night, under string lights, with a Houston skyline backdrop? Absolutely electric.
